Daredevil Season 3 Episode 6 Recap
Daredevil season 3 episode 6 picks up the stories of characters in peril from the previous episode. Karen and Foggy are dealing with Karen’s revelation that she killed Wesley. Dex is tormented by his abandonment issues. The FBI continues to hunt for Matt.
While Foggy tells Karen that killing Wesley was justified in self-defense, Karen still feels guilty for putting seven bullets in Wesley to make sure that he really was dead. In order to take the heat off of them, the two concoct a plan when Matt reaches out to Karen for help. Karen will agree to find and take a statement from Jasper that will put Fisk back behind bars as long as Matt turns himself in to the FBI. Foggy is confident that with Jasper’s statement and Foggy representing Matt, that the FBI will drop its investigation of Matt.
“I Will Never Abandon You”
Dex is still anxious after Julie walked out on him. Even his therapy tapes aren’t helping. To compound the issue, Dex is placed on leave from the FBI pending an investigation into the attack on the transport. Without the stability of his routine, Dex is ready to commit suicide when Fisk reaches out to him. Fisk tells Dex that he has been conditioned to lie to make himself more presentable to th public, but society will never accept him for who he really is. Fisk tells Dex that if Dex will accept the gift that Fisk is giving him, then Fisk will never abandon him.
Matt is ready to turn himself in to the FBI in order to put Fisk back behind bars and to clear his own name so that the FBI backs off of Foggy and Karen. Maggie tells Matt that having friends and doing things for the people who care about him is not a weakness, contrasting Dex’s feeling of loneliness and trying to be accepted against Matt having friends and trying to shut them out.
The characters converge on the Bulletin offices. Karen takes Jasper to film his statement about Fisk’s plan to play the FBI. Foggy and Matt await the FBI, who are on their way to both hear Jasper’s taped confession and bring Matt in. Before Jasper can deliver his statement, the power goes out. Dex, dressed in the red Daredevil suit, attacks and kills the reporters and staff at the Bulletin. Matt and Dex battle around the cubicles, with Matt taking the upper hand when the fighters are in close and Dex having the advantage when the two are at a distance, using his unique aim and throwing abilities.
Eventually, Dex incapacitates Matt. Dex kills Jasper before fighting his way down a stairwell full of FBI agents and escaping. Karen helps Matt to his feet and Matt is able to avoid the agents in his own escape from the building. Having encountered Dex in the red suit, Ray proclaims that the slaughter at the Bulletin was Daredevil’s work.
